Fear of Crime Determinants in Poland at the Covid-19 Pandemic: Empirical Assessment of Socio-Demographic and Economic Factors

Purpose: The research paper explains to what extent sociodemographic, psychographic and economic determinants differentiate attitudes towards fear of crime in Poland at the COVID-19 pandemic. Design/Methodology/Approach: results come from an empirical study conducted on a representative sample adult Poles. application methodology relates strictly that recognized used research. Computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI) were data collection stage. At stage analysis, multi-dimensional modeling with use optimal scaling (CATREG) was selected descriptive inductive statistics used. Findings: Polish society differs other European societies terms crime. Political worldview, religious beliefs, marital status, age education are rare or unusual correlates but turn out be very important Poland. Only gender, some – state prior victimization similar directions Western societies. Economic geographic factors turned weak indirect irrelevant require further Practical implications: justify claim about relatively good condition society, is low unrelated factors. As practical result, social groups required political actions reduce their increase awareness threat identified.
